Chef Kim’s 3 Day Baking Camp

Let’s learn to BAKE! this summer! Parents drop off the kids for some hands-on learning & fun, then pick them up and enjoy tasting what they made.

Description:

Join Hearth-N-Soul for a 3-day baking camp.  Camp will run from 10 am – 12:30 pm.  In this three- day camp Chef Kim will teach the bakers how to bake with skill and confidence as they prepare a variety of globally inspired sweet treats like Turtle Brownies, plus warm-from-the-oven bread, and the art of working with chocolate!

 

Day 1: Cookies, Brownies, and Bars

Malted Milk Ball Cookies—Turtle Brownies—Lemon Bars

 

Day 2: Bread

Sweet Jam-Filled Scones—Olive Oil Topped Focaccia—Grandma’s Sweet Cornbread

 

Day 3: The Art of Chocolate

Silky Chocolate Pudding—Bittersweet Chocolate Truffles—Chocolate Biscotti

 

Each class runs for two hours (30 minutes for clean-up) and bakers will enjoy a generous sample of every delectable dish.

What To Expect:  

Great baking isn’t about recipes—it’s about techniques.  In Chef Kim’s Kitchen, you’ll work together with other students in a fun, hands-on environment.

  • Classes are 2 ½ hours
  • You will work with other students in groups of 4
  • Hands-on classes are limited to 12 students
  • You will be standing, baking and working for most of the class
  • Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back

Cost:

You can pay for the 3-day baking classes on Eventbrite.com.  The fee is $80.00 per baker and all supplies are included.  Each bakery will receive an apron and chef hat to be worn each day while in the kitchen.  A light snack will also be provided each day along with a beverage.

 

Ages:

Boys and Girls 8- 16 years of age.

Learn different cooking techniques, find a wide variety of ethnic cuisines and cook nutritious, delicious meals for yourself or your family and friends. As a Culinary instructor, Chef Kim believes, “cooking does not have to be complicated, involve hours of prep work or require multiple trips to different grocery stores to serve up fabulous food”. Our classes are entertaining, informative and structured for students with different skill levels. Students always leave Chef Kim’s Kitchen with smiles on their faces and satisfied appetites.

Food and equipment included in the cost. Classes include all ingredients, class notes, recipes and beverage.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:                                                              

STUDENTS MUST ARRIVE ON TIME AND BE DRESSED APPROPRIATELY TO ENTER THE KITCHEN.

Students must wear a t-shirt (no tank tops or spaghetti straps), closed toe and heel shoes without holes (preferably a sneaker), and must wear long hair in a ponytail.  Chef hats will be provided along with aprons.

STUDENTS WILL BE SUPERVISED BUT THEY MUST BE ABLE TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. The kitchen is filled with dangerous tools and equipment.  Their ability to follow directions is directly related to their safety.  Students should also be able to read and communicate clearly.

A snack will be provided each day along with beverages.  Please bring in bags or Tupperware containers to bring products home.  Containers will not be provided.
